Berlin club Renate has confirmed it will remain open into 2026, after securing an extension to its lease.
In 2024, the Friedrichshain venue announced plans to close permanently in 2025 when its existing lease expired. However, the club shared an update on Instagram on 18 December, stating that a new agreement will allow Renate to continue operating next year.
Before the extension takes effect, Renate is still set to host its 86-hour New Year’s Eve party starting 31 December, after which the club will temporarily close in early 2026 to “reset, regroup and carefully plan our next steps.”
Owner and CEO Robert Kreissel said that while the key news is that Renate will continue in 2026, the details of what comes next are still being developed. He explained that the venue now needs to essentially restart—rebuilding its team, reorganising internal processes, beginning new bookings, and planning a future that has come as a welcome surprise. Kreissel added that there will be a short break following New Year’s Eve while the club remains temporarily closed, with further updates to follow when confirmed.
Renate, which opened as Salon Zur Wilden Renate in 2007, was also impacted by a fire earlier this year. The blaze damaged the garden entrance area—including a ticket booth, fence, a tree, and a photo booth—though the main building was unaffected and no events were taking place at the time.
