Tresor Berlin has released a new various artists compilation titled ‘ANNEX’, now available to stream in full. Rolled out in two parts throughout December, the 28-track project brings together a wide range of artists connected to the storied Berlin institution and label, including IMOGEN, UFO95, Lady Starlight, NVST, quest?onmarq, Fireground, Maoupa Mazzocchetti, and more.
Conceptually, ‘ANNEX’ reflects on Tresor’s long-standing home on Köpenicker Straße, using the building’s evolving identity as a lens for the music. In the label’s description, the compilation speaks to how the space enables introduction, connection, and creation—mirroring the many roles the Kraftwerk complex has taken on since Tresor relocated there in 2007. Beyond functioning as a club and venue, the site also houses offices, exhibition spaces, and key cultural initiatives such as Berlin Atonal, the Tresor Foundation, and the Academy of Subcultural Understanding. With the arrival of Hard Wax in 2023, the building added yet another gathering point for shared ideas and community.
Tresor notes that the compilation’s music was made by individuals directly tied to the ecosystem—ranging from staff and residents to Hard Wax employees and long-time friends—framing ‘ANNEX’ as a snapshot of the wider Tresor network.
The release caps off a packed year for the label, following projects such as the Jeff Mills 30th anniversary reissue ‘Waveform Transmission Vol. 3’, TYGAPAW’s ‘Black Trans Masculine Experience’ EP, Surgeon’s ‘Shell~Wave’ LP, and a reissue of Drexciya’s 2000 EP ‘Fusion Flats’. Tresor has also been remastering and reissuing Blake Baxter productions from its catalogue, including the ‘Dream Sequence X’ EP released this past June.
Elsewhere, in October, Tresor founder Dimitri Hegemann received the Berlin Order of Merit, recognising his contributions to the city’s techno and club culture.
